In a new housing market analysis, Zillow has looked at how home values change as you move away from the city center.
If you’re a homeowner living close to the city center, chances are your home value is holding up better than your friends in the suburbs. This is consistent with most of the top 10 Metropolitan Statistical Areas tracked by Zillow, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco.
However, in some markets, including Atlanta, Cleveland, and Detroit, the exact opposite was true, where homes in the suburbs have held their value better than city centers.
