Digs Estimates Proving Valuable Tool for Remodelers

May 15, 2013

SEATTLE, May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Zillow, Inc. (NASDAQ: Z), the leading real estate and home-related information marketplace, has experienced significant growth in just three months of launching its new home improvement business, Zillow® Digs™. Home improvement professionals and consumers have contributed nearly 34,000 photos to Zillow Digs, representing 165 percent growth since launch, and created more than 93,000 Zillow Digs boards.

Home improvement is a growing industry heavily driven by visual content and inspiration. With Zillow Digs, home shoppers and homeowners can find visual inspiration and, with patent-pending Digs Estimates for kitchens and bathrooms, can understand the real cost of remodeling projects by location.

According to a recent Zillow survey[i], more than 80 percent of Zillow Digs' users are actively working on or planning a home improvement project and nearly 70 percent are using Zillow Digs to collect ideas or get inspired. Also, nearly 60 percent plan to reference Digs Estimates during their next bathroom or kitchen remodel.

Developed first for the iPad® and featured by Apple® at launch, the Zillow Digs iPad App experiences 10 times the page views per session versus the desktop.

"It has been exciting to watch the entry and growth of our newest marketplace, home improvement," said Spencer Rascoff, Zillow CEO. "We're tremendously pleased with the adoption and reception of Zillow Digs, and we are looking forward to broadening and improving Zillow Digs for consumers."

Zillow Digs' users can browse tens of thousands of photos from Zillow's database of more than 110 million U.S. homes, or those provided by home improvement professionals and homeowners, and see Zillow's proprietary Digs Estimates for the estimated cost of the actual bathrooms and kitchens they are viewing. They can create, save and share boards of ideas and décor they love, and browse boards created by others, comment on photos and follow people with similar interests. And, they can connect with local home improvement professionals for help – for free, on iPad and the Web.
